
The Hungarian raids were accompanied by a simultaneous raid of a related company in Los Angeles U.S.A. Infringing product was seized in both territories (in Hungary by the Hungarian National police).
As a result of the raids, several hundred refilled cartridges within counterfeit packaging were seized. The Hungarian police surmised that several thousand refilled cartridges had been sold as genuine HP products in the last few years.
In England, a company in Leeds was raided by Trading Standards based on evidence collated by Hewlett Packard. Infringing boxes and product were seized and it was known that these had been largely shipped to the Middle East, Africa and Russia over a number of years.
In Italy, police, are currently in the midst of raiding various sites in an attempt to shut down an operation identified by Hewlett Packard. It is important that customers are able to trust that they will receive the value they expect and make a safe buy from the distribution channel.
