
January 2000 — ICCE members raid counterfeit production plants in Malaysia
With the help of the Penang Police and The Department of Domestic Trade, ICCE members, Canon, Epson, HP and Oki raided counterfeit production and printing facilities in and around Penang. This illicit operation was also counterfeiting NEC and Panasonic products. Jag Gill commented, Due to the fact that multiple brands were being counterfeited, the ICCE co-ordinated liaison between member companies and facilitated the action.
Printing plates and counterfeit products were seized. It is believed that this operation was producing extremely large amounts of counterfeit product. The exact amounts are yet to be determined.
