ICCE Breathes Fire in the Heat of Spain

(April 2002)

The Imaging Consumables Coalition and its members Canon, Epson, and Oki, swept down on the sun drenched cities of Cordoba, Valencia and Madrid, to land a fatal blow on seven companies dealing in counterfeit consumables.

Over a £160,000 worth of product was seized with the help of the Brigada De Policia Judicial in Madrid, and other regional forces. In excess of 7,000 counterfeit products were recovered, placing many of the companies at an immediate loss and facing criminal charges.

An ICCE spokesperson commented, “The above operation involved a great deal of intricate geographical co-ordination, and we fully thank the enforcement authorities in Spain for their assistance and efforts to ensure these raids were successful’.

The prevalence of counterfeit printer peripherals remains a serious problem for the supplies industry. The ICCE has been set up to counter this illegal activity and is a non-profit making organisation consisting of a number of leading printer manufacturers.
