The various Authorities included Customs, the Police Anti-Fraud Section of the Trade and Supply Department at the Ministry of Interior, Contact Point Organization, Prosecutor Generals Office, General Organization for Exports and imports Control Import-Export Monitoring Department and others.

The event in Cairo was also attended by the Japan External Trade Organization and the Senior Officials from the Economic and Trade Specialist Embassy of the USA.
The trip was designed to begin a positive dialogue with high ranking officials in the Departments mentioned and to promote action against counterfeit imaging supplies in the Egyptian market. It is estimated that some 60% of the imaging supplies market is represented by counterfeit.
Jag Gill Director of ICCE commented, “We were delighted with the response of the Authorities in Egypt, and welcome the active steps being taken to put into place new legislation with regard to the role of customs in the field of IPR enforcement”.
The ICCE will be taking a number of follow up steps to continue the momentum developed by the visit. More news will become available over the coming weeks.
