ICCE offers an authentication service to enable dealers, wholesalers and large volume consumers to check the validity of any questionable goods.

The service is being provided to offer peace of mind to all customers in the distribution chain. Frequently, distributors are victims of transactions that turn out to be "too good to be true". They are offered products that are represented as inventory liquidations, manufacturer’s overruns or diverted products from overseas.

There are many warning signs that a transaction might be suspicious, including:

• The offer is frequently handwritten
• It is offered by fax or phone, not in person
• Payment must be cash
• You must buy today
• You must buy significant quantities
• They offer a certificate of "authenticity"

When these offers are made, distributors can send samples to the ICCE who, in turn, will submit them to the manufacturer for analysis. All requests are confidential and the requester is not identified to the manufacturer.

If the product is legitimate, the requester is informed and the transaction is concluded.

If it is counterfeit the requester is notified and asked to confidentially identify the source of the offer.

The ICCE will pursue the situation without involving the requester unless they agree otherwise.
